Due to the lodging situation in Stanley Idaho, we were forced to revise our route. We will be going Baker City, McCall, Boise, Challis. From Challis it is only about 100 miles to Craters of the Moon so we will visit that and then check in at Arco. From Arco it is on to Jellystone for 3 nights. From there we have no plans yet but I am leaning towards packing a tent and sleeping bags (and coffee) in case we have to rough it. My tent will probably be OK but my sleeping bags are ginormous so I will have to buy something that stuffs into a 6 X 6 compression sack. REI here I come. Space, not weight will be at a premium on a motorcycle (I guess size does matter). Hope it all fits. . .

Route Planning

Oregon City, Prineville, Baker City, McCall, Stanley, Arco, Yellowstone

There is some pretty technical riding especially around Stanley so it is good thing that the trip legs are short.

Early plans and reservations

So we are planning another bike trip on the Harley. On our trip road last June from Illinois to Oregon http://dynaroadtrip.blogspot.com/ we decided to skip Yellowstone park because it was too early in the season to enjoy a motorcycle ride at the 8,500 foot level.

We have reservations in July for a Canyon Lodge Frontier Cabin 1 Queen at Jellystone. I was surprised and pleased that it was under $100 per night; anyway we are not going there for the room. The plan is to spend the 4th in Baker City and work our way across southern Idaho to Yellowstone.

We also have a day visit to the Craters of the Moon national monument. http://www.nps.gov/crmo/index.htm

At present we are planning on winging it on the trip home but that could change.
